Pappa John Paul II was visiting memorial and concentration camp in Auschwitz on 7th June 1979 and told to the crowd of pilgrims . . .
Standing here in this place, we feel like we desire to consider each nation and every human like we were all Brothers.

OŚWIĘCIM - The city with more than 800 years of intere
sting history is one of the oldest Piast Castellan's burgs in Poland. Connected with Silesia and Małopolska Region and in the fourteenth century also with the Czech Monarchy.
This place is really so terrifying that I strongly recommend not to take young children for the visit to Auschwitz and if so, than I suggest to take care to give them a full background and adequate preparation before - let them be ready for what they will see as this way there will be able to understand it better. Saying truth I do not believe that anybody, even adult can imagine the atrociousness and authenticity of the Auschwitz memorial - The conception of "Nazi's final solution" was the largest concentration camp built by Germans during the second World War. It was a grave of over 1,5 million human beings - mainly Jews, Poles, political prisoners, and Gypsies.
I also do not recommend to take a guide while
visiting concentration camp in Auschwitz - this place requires attention and dedication, so assistance of the other people is annoying and a guide is only disturbing the reception of the experience. Every important object is described in English. Instead of hiring the guide I would advice to read something before the visit and to watch a documentary movie about Concentration Camp history at the camp side or on the DVD player on the way to Auschwitz.
